Lyric: Our Hands Have Yet to Meet
Is there anything more precious
Than the heart and the eyes?
The hand…
Yes, more precious than heart or sight —
The hand.
Of all the treasures, seen and unseen,
Within the body and the soul,
Everything we build, everything we dream,
Begins with hands that make us whole.
Whatever we gain in this world,
Whatever we leave behind,
Every word and every wonder
Was shaped by the hands of humankind.
When darkness falls upon your heart,
When hope is nowhere to be found,
Remember you still have your hands,
To lift the mountains from the ground.
Hand in hand, we could be free,
Two hearts, one humanity.
We built the world, we crossed the sea,
But our hands have yet to meet.
Oh, our hands have yet to meet…
A hand can speak without a word,
Can tell the stories never heard.
A hand upon a fevered brow
Can bring a little healing now.
A hand can paint, a hand can play,
Can guide the lost along their way.
Can hold a lover through the night,
Can build tomorrow out of light.
And when we dance beneath the sky,
Our hands become the flags we fly.
The armies of sorrow fade away,
When hands are joined in hope today.
Hand in hand, we could be free,
Two hearts, one humanity.
We built the world, we crossed the sea,
But our hands have yet to meet.
Oh, our hands have yet to meet…
But what sets my heart on fire,
Again and again…
Is the fate of humankind.
We learned to move the mountains.
We learned to conquer the skies.
We learned to aim our arrows…
But never learned
To reach each other.
Hand in hand, we could be free,
Two hearts, one humanity.
We built the world, we crossed the sea,
But our hands have yet to meet.
Hand in hand, across the night,
We could turn the dark to light.
We found the stars, we conquered dreams,
But our hands have yet to meet.
Our arrows
Have reached their targets…
But our hands…
Our hands have yet to reach
Each other.
