In this digitPro interview, produced in collaboration with FACADES Lifestyle, we meet Mila Askarova, founder of Gazelli Art House, at the gallery’s London home.
Founded by Askarova in 2010, Gazelli Art House has developed into an international contemporary art gallery with spaces in London, Baku and New York. Its programme brings together established and emerging artists across painting, sculpture, photography, installation, moving image, performance and digital art, while maintaining an important connection with artists and cultural perspectives from Azerbaijan and the wider Caucasus region.
Askarova’s journey into the art world combines an international outlook with a strong understanding of contemporary art and the art market. After studying International Relations at the London School of Economics, she continued her education at Central Saint Martins and Christie’s before working at Sotheby’s. Through Gazelli Art House, she has created a platform that connects artists, collectors and audiences while encouraging dialogue between different generations, cultures and artistic disciplines.
This video forms part of an earlier digitPro and FACADES Lifestyle creative collaboration, supporting Gazelli Art House and helping introduce the gallery and its artists to a wider London audience. Looking back, the interview also captures an interesting moment in the development of a gallery that has since expanded its international presence while continuing to explore the changing relationship between art, culture and technology.
