Lyric:The Remedy

For every star
that suddenly
sets in the sky…

For every star that disappears,
my heart breaks into a thousand pieces.
A thousand pieces
in the dark,
a thousand pieces
without a sound.

I look into the night
and ask the darkness
where the light has gone.

But the darkness says nothing.
It only opens
its endless sky.

And somewhere beyond the silence,
somewhere beyond my sorrow…
There are stars
I cannot see.

The sky is always full of stars…
Always…
Always…
and still…
The sky is always full of stars.
And for my broken heart…
That is the remedy.

One star may vanish
without a warning.
One light may leave
the night behind.
But I will not call
the whole sky empty
because one star
has disappeared.

My heart is broken
into a thousand pieces…
Perhaps that is why
I can see the sky
through every one of them.

Always…
And still…
Full of stars.

The sky is always full of stars.
Always…
Always…
and still…
The sky is always full of stars.
Even when I cannot see them.
Even when one disappears.
The sky remains.

For every star
that suddenly sets…
There are still stars
above us.
Always…
And still…
Is full of stars
Is the remedy.

Original poem by M. Zohari

For every star
that suddenly
sets
in the sky,

my heart is shattered
into a thousand pieces.

For a heart shattered into a thousand pieces,
the thought that the sky
— always, and still —
is filled with stars
is the remedy.

About Mohammad Zohari

Mohammad Zohari (1926–1995) was an Iranian modern poet, writer and scholar whose poetry combined a quiet lyrical sensitivity with an awareness of the social and emotional realities of his time. His work, influenced by the evolution of modern Persian poetry, often moved between love, solitude, loss, hope and the deeper questions of human existence.

“The Remedy” comes from this more intimate side of Zohari’s poetry. In just a few lines, a falling star becomes a metaphor for loss, while the endless sky offers a simple but profound consolation: there will always be other stars. It is a small poem about heartbreak, resilience and the possibility of hope — a fitting reflection of the spirit behind Persian Poetry After Dark.
